Students Shine in 2024 Rhinathlon at ISHCMC Secondary Campus

Excitement filled the air at the ISHCMC Secondary Campus last week, as students showcased their athleticism and sportsmanship in the second annual Rhinathlon event. The Rhinathlon had truly brought together students from different grade levels for a day of spirited competition and togetherness.

Reflecting on the notable moments from this year's event, Mr Andrew Parlby, Secondary Leader of Learning for Physical and Health Education and the event leader, expressed, "The number of students participating was impressive, and it was heartening to see students who are not your regular Rhino athletes or stingrays taking part."

Indeed, the Rhinathlon saw many students joining and breaking their own records in the grade 6 & 7 session, with standout performances in both swimming and running; last year’s records were exceeded in the grades 10 - 12 event.

The event also played a significant role in promoting physical fitness and well-being. Participants displayed remarkable dedication, with Andrew noting, "It's incredible to see students who have just finished rounds of swimming step out of the pool dripping wet and transition seamlessly into running." Regardless of their final standings, the feeling of accomplishment was the biggest gain for the students who completed the Rhinathlon.

During the event day, students had shown a strong sense of sportmanship and unity. Mr Parlby shared, "There was a lot of support among everyone, even those competing against each other. Some students had completed their race but noticed their friends struggling, so they jumped back selflessly onto the running course to help and support them." This sportsmanship highlighted how we all work together to succeed.

As the Rhinathlon drew to a close, let's not forget to extend our gratitude to the incredible individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organize this year's event. The success of the Rhinathlon was made possible by the unwavering support of the ISHCMC community. From the enthusiastic cheers of parents and teachers to the dedication of the organizing teams, 2024 Rhinathlon truly brought the school together. It was a testament to the collaborative spirit and collective effort within the ISHCMC community.

Well done to all the Rhinos, teams and parents for making Rhinathlon 2024 a day to remember!
