Head of School Message - Sep 18th

This week, we celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival. From lanterns hanging in the walkway to assemblies, mooncakes, and house activities, our students have come together as one community to understand the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival. I trust our families had a joy-filled celebration with loved ones, families, and friends.

Thank you to our parents who attended the Head of School Parent Forums last week. It was a pleasure to share our annual goals and key priority objectives with our parent community. In the forum, I highlighted areas of growth and celebration and shared the many practical actions we continue to take in response to our VOS, VOE, and VOP data.

In addition, I provided a school-wide view of our student's academic achievements at ISHCMC for the last school year. This included an overview of our IB Diploma results and Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) achievement data. Our student achievement data shows that ISHCMC students are outperforming all US and international schools globally, regionally, and in Vietnam. You can read the full article here.

Last week, we were delighted to host Dr. Mark Wenzel, our Cognita Regional Education Director. He met with many members of our academic team, connected with our teachers and observed our high-quality teaching and learning programme in action. Dr. Mark Wenzel reviewed our students' achievement and growth data and worked with our team to understand the actions we continue to take to ensure that every child realises their full potential.

This week, it has been a pleasure to welcome Mr. Marco Longmore to ISHCMC, our incoming Head of School. Marco met with our leaders, teachers, students and parents to learn more about our school context. He heard what we all love about our school and our hopes and wishes for our continuous journey of growth and development. Marco will assume his role as Head of School at ISHCMC in January 2025. Over the next four months, I will work closely with him to ensure a smooth transition. If you did not get an opportunity to meet with Marco this week, there will be further opportunities when he returns for a second visit in November.

In kindness and service

Kim Green, Head of School
