Today the Eco-School Committee and some of our Grade 10 students walked to the Laiday Refill Station to learn about the concept of refilling and how they can reduce our carbon footprint by refilling and purchasing organic products. Some students brought their own empty containers from home and some used the clean used bottles from the shop. They observed carefully about the ingredients of each organic soap/detergent and compared the prices before their purchase. They also communicated with the staff in the shop if they can drop the used containers they collect from the school community so other people can use them when they come to shop.
The students gained a better understanding about minimizing the personal waste by refilling soap and buying organic products at a local shop. And they are looking forward to more community collaboration with different local organizations.
