Dear ISHCMC Community,

I am pleased to share that Mr. Phil Rogers has been appointed Deputy Head of School (Academic) at ISHCMC and will join us in January 2027.

Phil succeeds Dr. Tosca Killoran as she moves into a new role within the Cognita South East Asia and India cluster of schools.

For some families, Phil will already be a familiar face.

From 2016 to 2019, he served as Head of Secondary Campus at ISHCMC. It was an important period in the life of our school, including the development and opening of the Secondary Campus. Phil played an active role in academic and pastoral programs, student leadership, professional learning, and the wider school community.

He now returns to ISHCMC with considerable experience gained since then.

Phil brings 30 years of educational leadership across Australia, Asia, and Africa, together with extensive International Baccalaureate experience as both a school leader and an IB Authorization and Evaluation Team Leader. Most recently, he has held senior whole-school positions at SCEGGS Darlinghurst and The Friends’ School in Australia, working across teaching and learning, school improvement, leadership development, and school operations.

His appointment follows an extensive international recruitment and selection process involving a strong field of candidates.

What stood out was not only Phil’s experience, but the way he leads.

He brings warmth, humility, and calm judgment. He believes deeply in what students and colleagues can become when they are known well, challenged thoughtfully, and given room to grow. His approach closely reflects the values of the IB Learner Profile and ISHCMC’s commitment to learning and wellbeing.

Phil returns to a school he already knows, but not to the same school he left. ISHCMC has continued to grow, shaped by the students, families, and educators who have added to it in the years since.

Now, Phil will add to it again.

We look forward to welcoming him back to our community and to his joining the Executive Leadership Team in January 2027.
