Message from the High School Principal – 3 September 2026

Dear ISHCMC High School Community,

I hope you and your families enjoyed the break, taking time to celebrate Vietnam Independence Day, and recharge for the weeks ahead.

I’m looking forward to welcoming our High School students and families to our Grade 6-10 Back-to-School Night this evening. Ahead of the event, I encourage Grade 9 and 10 families to explore our High School Community Briefs, which provide an overview of your child’s learning and the experiences they will engage in this year.

Back to School Night

The final two years of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) are a significant stage in our students’ development. These years are about much more than academic progress. Students are becoming increasingly independent, developing their sense of identity and purpose, and building the skills and confidence they need for the next stage of their education. As they move toward their Grade 11 and 12 pathway, we are committed to ensuring they are well prepared academically, socially, and emotionally for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

I look forward to sharing more about the MYP alongside our High School Vice Principal, and Curriculum Coordinator. We hope the evening gives you a clear picture of our learning environment, our approach to student support, and the culture of care that sits at the heart of our High School. Our teachers, advisors, counselors, and leadership team play an important role in helping every student find their strengths, navigate challenges, and make the most of their High School experience.

House Spirit Week

Last week, we also came together for House Spirit Week, and it was fantastic to see our High School students embrace the energy and excitement across campus. From karaoke and basketball hoop competitions to Sports Day, students had plenty of opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, connect with peers, and show their House pride. Activities such as football, Wall Breakers, tug of war, and more created opportunities for students across grade levels to build relationships, work together, and contribute to our wider school community.

School Photo Day

Looking ahead, next week, our Secondary community will come together for School Photo Day. Students will have the opportunity to take professional headshots, along with some more relaxed and fun photos if they wish.

Future Pathway Update

Last week, our Future Pathways Counselors (FPC’s) met with our Grade 12 students and families at Back To School Night. This session was packed with important information for our Rhinos as they continue on their journey toward their future goals.

In addition, our FPCs held Parent Coffee Mornings in Vietnamese, Korean and English, in order to further support our community in a more 1-on-1 setting. Parents were able to ask specific questions about their child, planning ahead with university deadlines, documents and more. These Parent Coffee Mornings will continue next week, after our Grade 11 Back To School Night.

There is a great deal to look forward to this year, and I’m excited to see our students take ownership of their learning, embrace new experiences, and continue to grow as confident and compassionate young people.
