Primary School

Adam Carroll - Primary Homeroom Teacher

Adam is an enthusiastic educator from Ireland who is passionate about creating active, inquiry-based learning experiences that help students make meaningful connections with what they are learning. He is committed to fostering a positive and supportive classroom where students feel confident to take risks, ask questions, and grow as independent learners. Outside of school, he enjoys staying active and exploring new places.

Alice Bevan - Speech Language Therapist

After seven years in Bali, Alice joins ISHCMC from the United Kingdom with extensive experience as a speech and language therapist. Passionate about supporting children's communication development, she believes in collaborating closely with families and educators to help every learner thrive. Alice is also a published author of two practical books for early years educators.

Amy Wheeler - Primary Homeroom Teacher

With a Master's degree in Primary Education, Amy is passionate about creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments where every child feels supported to thrive. Specializing in early years education, she brings a strong focus on play-based learning, active learning, and early literacy, while advocating for students with diverse learning needs.

Carly Robinson - Primary Homeroom Teacher

Conor O'Brien - Primary Homeroom Teacher

With six years of teaching experience in Ireland, Conor is passionate about creating inclusive learning environments where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. He believes in fostering curiosity through engaging, student-centered learning while building strong relationships that help students grow in confidence. Originally from Cork, Ireland, Conor enjoys staying active through sports, traveling during school breaks, and is excited to begin the next chapter of his teaching journey at ISHCMC.

Hannah Wolff - Learning Support Teacher

Jennifer Alegria Campos - Primary PE Teacher

With 10 years of international teaching experience across the USA, China, Kuwait, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Malaysia, Jennifer is a passionate Physical Education teacher who champions diversity, inclusion, and student well-being. Holding two master's degrees in inclusive and intercultural education, she is committed to creating safe, supportive environments where every student can thrive. Jennifer is also an avid sports enthusiast and recently helped grow a girls' football program in Malaysia, inspiring more students to develop confidence through sport.

Kaylin Jonsson - Primary Homeroom Teacher

With more than 11 years of teaching experience in Thailand, Kaylin brings a wealth of expertise in elementary education, literacy, and reading intervention. Holding a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on literacy, she is passionate about building strong relationships and creating supportive learning environments where every student is challenged to succeed. Originally from Canada, Kaylin is joining ISHCMC with her husband, Nick, who is also a primary teacher, and their daughter, Evelyn. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading mystery novels, baking, and traveling.

Li Lu - Mandarin Teacher

Returning to ISHCMC after previously teaching at the school from 2016 to 2021, Li brings extensive experience in international education in both Vietnam and China. Passionate about authentic language learning, she creates engaging, real-world experiences that help students build confidence and enjoy learning Mandarin, often incorporating innovative teaching approaches and technology into her lessons. Originally from China, Li enjoys spending time in nature, camping, and sharing laughter with her students and colleagues. She is excited to rejoin the ISHCMC community with her young son.

Mairéad Brosnan - Primary Homeroom Teacher

Originally from Ireland, Mairéad is entering her fifth year of teaching and is passionate about creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences that inspire creativity, collaboration, and curiosity. She enjoys incorporating drama activities into the classroom and believes students learn best through active participation and meaningful, hands-on projects. Alongside her love of education, Mairéad is a keen sports enthusiast and values teamwork both in and out of the classroom.

With 11 years of international teaching experience, Nick is passionate about building positive relationships and creating learning environments where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Originally from Canada, he has taught a range of grade levels and specialist subjects, bringing a student-centered approach that focuses on empathy, growth, and helping every child reach their potential. Outside the classroom, he enjoys distance running, rock climbing, and playing ultimate frisbee.

Rachel Kim Garthe - Primary Homeroom Teacher

With more than 20 years of international teaching experience across Australia, Switzerland, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, and Thailand, Rachel is passionate about creating joyful, play-based learning environments where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn. She believes strong relationships and meaningful inquiry are at the heart of early childhood education, helping children develop confidence, curiosity, and independence. Originally from Queensland, Australia, Rachel enjoys discovering new restaurants, spending time outdoors, and always has a stack of picture books close by.

Sue Nilsson - Primary EAL Teacher

Teighyn Allmark - Primary Homeroom Teacher

With international teaching experience across Japan, Vietnam, Abu Dhabi, and South Africa, Teighyn is passionate about creating engaging early years learning experiences that spark curiosity and celebrate every child's "lightbulb moments." She believes in fostering inquiry, play-based learning, and student agency to build strong foundations for lifelong learning. Outside the classroom, Teighyn enjoys exploring new places, trying new experiences, and spending time with animals.

Anil Kumar - Maths Teacher

With more than 20 years of experience teaching mathematics in international schools across India, Anil is passionate about developing critical thinkers through inquiry-driven, student-centered learning. He believes mathematics is a powerful tool for solving real-world problems and inspires students to build confidence, curiosity, and resilience through conceptual understanding. Beyond the classroom, Anil has led initiatives including Model United Nations, CAS, and student leadership programs, reflecting his commitment to developing well-rounded learners.

Bonnie Coles - PHE Teacher

Bonnie is a passionate Physical and Health Education teacher with extensive international teaching experience across China, Thailand, Cameroon, Egypt, Cambodia, and Vietnam. She is dedicated to helping students develop confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of physical activity. Bonnie is excited to rejoin the ISHCMC community, where her daughter, Maddie, will complete her education. Outside the classroom, she enjoys playing sports and board games.

Bruna Ferreira da Rocha - MYP English Language Acquisition Teacher

Burton Chamberlin - Economics Teacher

Burton brings a wealth of global perspective to the classroom with more than 20 years of international education. Originally from Minnesota, he began his career coaching and playing American football in Europe before transitioning into teaching. He has since taught in Ukraine and Germany, where he spent a combined 20 years, and most recently completed a two-year sabbatical in South Korea. Passionate about economics and student engagement, Burton also has extensive experience coaching basketball and soccer.

Christian Laro Salazar - MYP Maths Teacher

Originally from the Philippines, Christian joins ISHCMC with experience teaching mathematics in international and IB schools. Passionate about helping students develop confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, he creates inclusive, student-centered learning environments where mathematics is engaging and connected to the real world. Christian has also served as a workshop facilitator at IB Dunia Conferences, supporting the professional growth of fellow educators. Outside the classroom, he enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures, and playing volleyball.

George Musili - English Language & Literature Teacher

George joins ISHCMC with more than 10 years of experience teaching IB Language and Literature. He is passionate about helping students develop critical thinking through literary analysis and close reading of diverse texts. He brings extensive experience across the IB continuum, having served as an IB Examiner, Interim MYP Coordinator, Head of Department, and supervisor for the Personal Project and Extended Essay. George believes education should be transformative, empowering students to apply their learning in meaningful, real-world contexts. Outside the classroom, he enjoys reading, swimming, and playing basketball, and looks forward to joining the ISHCMC community.

Gines Bernal - Spanish Language Teacher

With extensive international teaching experience across Spain, China, and India, Gines is passionate about creating engaging, real-world language learning experiences that inspire curiosity and connection. He brings expertise in Spanish language education, the pedagogical use of AI, and Thinking Routines to personalize learning and help students thrive. Joining ISHCMC as the Spanish B Teacher and Mother Tongue Coordinator, Gines is relocating to Ho Chi Minh City with his wife, Naomy, and their young son, Nayel. Outside the classroom, he enjoys baking sourdough, cooking Spanish cuisine, and exploring Asian cinema.

Jalpa Sheth - Design Technology Teacher

With more than 14 years of experience across the IB continuum, Jalpa has held a range of leadership roles, including MYP Design Lead, Personal Project Coordinator, and Technology Coach, and is currently completing a Master's in Educational Technology and Instructional Design. An Apple Distinguished Educator and Apple Learning Specialist, Jalpa enjoys supporting teachers through technology integration and innovative teaching practices.

Kaori Iwaki - Japanese Language Teacher

Kaori brings extensive expertise in language education to ISHCMC with 16 years of experience teaching IB Japanese. A graduate of Osaka University with a Master's degree in Japanese Literature, she has taught at international schools across China and Thailand while living in cities around the world. Passionate about making learning enjoyable, Kaori creates engaging lessons that inspire students to develop a love for the Japanese language and culture.

Lucy Bowden - English Language & Literature Teacher

Originally from England, Lucy joins ISHCMC after four years of teaching in Ho Chi Minh City. Passionate about English Language and Literature, she loves introducing students to diverse voices and perspectives through literature from around the world while fostering a lifelong love of reading. Lucy is excited to become part of the ISHCMC community and continue inspiring students through meaningful discussions, critical thinking, and the power of storytelling.

Rebecca Markham - English Language & Literature Teacher

Rebecca has 12 years of teaching experience across the UK, Italy, Vietnam, and online learning. She is passionate about English, Theory of Knowledge, and exploring the thoughtful, ethical use of AI in education. Currently completing a Master's degree in Education and Technology at University College London, she believes in balancing innovation with traditional teaching to create meaningful, real-world learning experiences.

Richard Meeuws - Design Technology Teacher

Seung Hee Paik - Korean Language & Literature Teacher

Seung Hee has experience teaching IB MYP Korean Language and Literature in China. She is passionate about supporting multilingual learners as they strengthen their Korean literacy and cultural identity within an international school setting. She believes every student thrives when they feel understood and supported, and is dedicated to helping learners build confidence and reach their full potential.

Shalshia Sindrella Suresh - Counselor

Originally from South India, Shalshia is passionate about supporting adolescent well-being and creating a warm, welcoming environment where every student feels heard, valued, and free from judgment. Known for her approachable nature and sense of humor, Shalshia enjoys connecting with young people and helping them grow both personally and academically.

Shauna Hever - MYP Integrated Science / DP Biology Teacher

Wilmie van Schalkwyk - Learning Support Teacher

With more than 10 years of experience in education, Wilmie brings expertise in English for academic purposes, learning support, and student success. Holding a Master's degree in Education, she is passionate about creating inclusive learning environments where students develop the confidence, independence, and skills to advocate for their own learning. Originally from South Africa, Wilmie has spent the past nine years living in northern Vietnam and is excited to join the ISHCMC community. Outside the classroom, she enjoys scuba diving, traveling, singing in choirs, and caring for her growing collection of houseplants.
