Dear ISHCMC High School Community,

Welcome Back to Term 2

I hope you had a wonderful break, enjoying time with family and loved ones, and that you return feeling refreshed and ready for the term ahead. Term 2 brings new opportunities for learning, discovery, and growth, and I look forward to seeing our students embrace the months ahead with curiosity, confidence, and a continued sense of connection to our community.

Building a Culture of Belonging at ISHCMC

Our teachers and staff across both campuses began the week with two full days of professional learning, centered on a theme fundamental to our school: Belonging.

Belonging shapes how students learn, build relationships, and develop socially and emotionally. At a time when loneliness among young people is a growing concern worldwide, our responsibility to create a community where every student feels connected and valued has never been more important.

In partnership with Nicholas Carlisle from Power of Zero, we are proud to be on a journey to become a true school of belonging. During our professional learning days, Nicholas spent dedicated time with our Advisors and Leadership teams exploring restorative practices in response to bullying, conflict, and harassment. Together with our leadership team, he also focused on actionable strategies to continuously strengthen belonging across all stakeholders at ISHCMC.

At ISHCMC, we remain deeply committed to ensuring every student is known and cared for, appropriately challenged, and supported to make meaningful progress. By centering our efforts on restoring relationships, rebuilding trust, and fostering a culture of respect and responsibility, we ensure our approach directly supports our High School students, as they navigate greater independence and increasingly complex relationships.

Seeing our staff engage in thoughtful conversations about belonging gives me great confidence in our shared commitment. Together, we are creating an environment where every member of our community feels respected, supported, and truly connected.

Parent Workshop: Raising Kind and Resilient Children in the Digital Age.

Building on this learning, we were pleased to bring the conversation to our parent community through the workshop, “Raising Kind and Resilient Children in the Digital Age,” led again by Nicholas Carlisle.

As gaming, social media, and AI continue to shape childhood and adolescence, the workshop offered practical strategies to help parents understand the impact of digital environments, maintain open communication, and support responsible online behavior. I hope the session provided valuable insights and strengthened our home-school partnership in fostering belonging, resilience, and well-being.

Looking Ahead

As we begin the new term, I look forward to the learning, opportunities, and experiences ahead. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Together, we can make ISHCMC a community where every student feels valued and empowered to thrive.

I wish everyone a rewarding Term 2 filled with growth, connection, and meaningful learning.

Warm regards,

Kohulan Jeganathan
